Nomadspace is an iOS app that helps nomads and remote workers discover the best workspaces around the world. The creator, Ed Beecroft, recognized that accurate and relevant data about coworking spaces is scarce out in the wild wild web. Based on his personal experience, he developed an app that includes up-to-date information, upfront prices in the local currency, meticulous search filters, and high-quality workspace reviews. My role was to design the app and create mockups for the product launch. Based on Ed’s preferred color palette and style, I created UI components that he would develop for the iOS app.

The solution was to create an app that would filter coworking spaces based on location, features, and specific cities. It would also document a user’s favorite spots and their account information. While the favorites and account tabs only lead to one additional screen, the explore area is much more multifaceted. The search area has over three hundred coworking space options on almost every continent. The process is made simpler with the use of advanced filter buttons.
Initially, a user selects a region or country directly, or types in specific text into the search engine bar. From that point, there are three buttons for advanced filtering: map location, features, and cities. For each button, a popup menu displays the relevant filters. Exiting the filter screen is as simple as tapping the close symbol. To return to the same filter screen or a different one, tab on the appropriate button beneath the search bar.
Then, there are pages for the coworking spaces themselves. What happens when you don’t see the information that you need to know? Besides the search filtering, Nomadspace also has a convenient function for directly contacting coworking spaces. The majority of listings contain an email address and some display phone numbers. This functionality helps coworkers eliminate guesswork and save valuable time in decision making.

The End Result
Since launching his product, Ed has received critical acclaim for his app, and it is becoming increasingly popular with coworkers. In the upcoming year, Ed is also planning the release for an Android app and a website app to extend the market reach. I’m looking forward to working with Ed in the future and seeing what he is doing next.
